Center for Justice, Tolerance, and Community (CJTC)

CJTC is an applied research center that works to solve issues of economy, diversity, and community with the goal of spurring action that promotes equity. The Center's faculty, students, and community-based researchers perform rigorous research and policy analysis in environmental justice, regionalism, and affordable housing; build community capacity to engage in public policy debates; conduct outreach and education; inform policymakers and decision-makers; and maintain databases and survey capacity.

Bridging Multiple Worlds Alliance (BMWA)

BMWA is working in six states to build partnerships that encourage low-income, ethnic-minority, and immigrant youth to continue with their education through college and on to careers. In Santa Cruz County, BMWA has a partnership with the Cabrillo College Advancement Program (CAP).

Community Partners

Cabrillo College Advancement Program (CAP)

The Cabrillo Advancement Program (CAP) was designed to increase the academic success of low-income students now enrolled in local schools. CAP involves over 500 youth in a community college outreach program that awards scholarships to sixth-grade students from low-income families and offers activities to help students stay on track to college. The scholarships are payable to the students–with interest–when they graduate from high school and enter Cabrillo College.

Live Oak Family Resource Center

The mission of the Live Oak Family Resource Center is to improve the quality of life and strengthen the individuals and families of Live Oak while promoting a safe and healthy community. It is a neighborhood and community-based place for families to come to for all kinds of help, information, sharing, and referrals to other programs that might be of help. Live Oak Family Resource Center does this by: connecting and providing people with resources and services; supporting opportunities for personal and cultural exchange; helping residents to thrive by helping themselves and each other.
