Projects > University of California, Santa Cruz > Strategies for Institutional Change
At UC Santa Cruz, there are three main strategies for institutional change:
- Sustaining support for the Center for Justice, Tolerance, and Community (CJTC). The Center’s founding director left for a new position in summer 2007;
- Developing stronger University-community-school linkages that involve both CJTC and Bridging Multiple Worlds Alliance (BMWA). In 2007, BMWA initiated an ongoing collaboration between the UCSC Educational Partnership Center, the Pajaro Valley Unified School District, CJTC, and BMWA. Representatives from these institutions meet monthly to share information and discuss how to align efforts; and
- Influencing system-wide educational policy. The faculty director of BMWA works with the UC Office of the President (UCOP) P-20 Leaders Group and UCOP staff to help develop a P-20 model and accountability framework for the P-20 work of all 10 UC campuses. The work is being funded by the California legislature.
